From the first line I was a little confused - "code switching"? How does this relate to the article topic "Language deprivation..."? Code switching is a huge topic of its own. I don't think it belongs in the area of language deprivation. Here is one publication you may want to refer to regarding code-switching: https://minerva-access.unimelb.edu.au/handle/11343/35415

"Conflict and controversies" is definitely an area that impacts of language acquisition for young deaf children. Maybe this should be the opening section..? Expanding on the experience parents have when they first come into contact with medical professionals at the time of a hearing loss diagnosis. Why is this a detrimental/negative event? What are the implications for the child when language input from care-givers is not holistic? The parents do not develop an understanding of visual communication strategies and "deaf gain" if the advice is based on a deficit model. Neilbray (talk) 14:50, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
